GET MESSY 2017 | FAIRY TALES PREP

So the next Get Messy season has been announced - the season of fairy tales!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am thinking of approaching this season slightly differently and will detail how exactly in this post...

I have a book on learning German for my journal this season - I will try and stick to either using pages from this cut out and collaged or using the book itself as my sketchbook.

I picked the book up at a shop in London with Vanessa last month, it was such a find!

The inside cover is what really sold it me <3

So many beautiful illustrations inside this book - look at all the castles!

Hoping a German person can decipher this for me...

I have also created a cast of characters, these are the totems or people my pages will revolve around.

A fox, my spirit animal

Poison apple

Key

(I may be little but I'm coming for the crown)

Broomstick

Big bad wolf

Witch

My idea is that they will enhance pages and provide some narrative, rather than permanently be stuck somewhere.

I also purchased this beautiful book as some further reading...
(be still my beating heart, it is so wonderful)

  2. I love the idea of a cast of characters and creating a narrative. It's like writing and illustrating your own personal fairytale.
